Young people to increase in employability skills – thanks to Postcode Lottery!

01/03/2019

Young people at Salmon have received a boost to their employability prospects, thanks to new funding from players of the People's Postcode Lottery!

The People’s Postcode Trust (the charitable arm of the People’s Postcode Lottery) have awarded Salmon a grant of £14,400 to boost the employability skills of young people aged 16 to 25.

Our aim is  thatyoung people who go through our programme will come out better prepared for employment with increased self-belief and confidence, higher aspirations, clearer goals, and increased motivation and resilience to find and sustain a job or training opportunity for the longer term.

They will also be given access to six months of one-to-one professional mentoring and coaching with trained adult mentors in various fields of work.

Speaking of the grant, Director Sam Adofo said:

“Young people facing severe disadvantages need a lot of additional support to become work-ready and succeed in employment.

Our experience has shown us that a lack of soft skills, low self-esteem and absence of positive adult influences undermines employability.

We therefore gladly welcome this grant from the People’s Postcode Lottery and we look forward to continuing to make a difference in the lives of young people with this new funding boost.”
