The Vitality Big Half Marathon organised by London Marathon Events, will take place on Sunday 22nd August 2021. This is a unique event that will bring together 20,000 people in celebration of the cultural diversity of London. We have 12 Runners running for Salmon this year with young people, resis, local residents and our corporate supporters from Gallup all supporting The Salmon Youth Centre. Cameron is taking part for the 2nd year running and we want to highlight his extraordinary story below and why this is such a challenge for him.
Cameron started coming to Salmon when he was 6 years old, both his legs having been amputated following meningitis. Over the years, Salmon have come alongside him, encouraging his love of sport and providing weekly mentoring through some very challenging early teenage years. His real love is wheelchair basketball and now aged 18 he is looking forward to picking it up again post-lockdown, having been playing for a London team and also having gained some great experience with the GB team just before covid hit.
Cameron now wants to give something back to Salmon. He is participating (in his wheelchair) in the Big Half London Marathon on 22nd August 2021, along with other Salmon runners raising much needed funds for Salmon.
