A Celebration of Creativity and Collaboration Via Salmon Youth Centre

03/03/2025

The Salmon Youth Centre recently organised two inspiring trips — a behind-the-scenes studio tour and an immersive visit to the White Cube Art Museum — both showcasing the incredible work and dedication of our young creatives and the guidance of our talented mentors.

These experiences were made possible thanks to the vision and expertise of DD Coralon, our music specialist tutor, and Eugene Ankomah, our artist in residence. Together, they continue to empower and inspire the next generation of musicians, visual artists, and storytellers.

Studio Tour: Stepping Into the Music Industry

The studio tour offered our young music club members a rare opportunity to explore a local and professional music environment. Our young people gained firsthand experience with state-of-the-art recording equipment, learned about the intricacies of production, and saw the various industry roles in action — from producers and sound engineers to podcasters and videographers.

Our young talents, encompassing rappers, singers, instrumentalists, and videographers, participated in a thought leadership styled event
where our young individuals engaged with advanced recording equipment, state-of-the-art broadcasting cameras, and live studio setups. Under the expert guidance of DD Coralon, the studio tour provided invaluable insights into the technical and creative facets of music production, leaving a lasting impression on all participants involved.

White Cube Art Museum: Exploring Visual Narratives

The trip then progressed to the White Cube Art Museum provided an alternative but equally powerful form of creative inspiration. Under the mentorship of Eugene Ankomah, our young club members explored contemporary exhibitions, engaging with thought-provoking pieces and drawing connections between visual art and their own individual creative journeys.

This visit sparked discussions around storytelling, symbolism, and artistic expression — themes our young creatives are beginning to explore in their own work, whether through music, media, or visual art. Eugene’s mentorship continues to encourage boldness, originality, and thoughtful reflection in their creative practices.

A Platform for Growth and Expression

The combined trip emphasised the importance of cross-disciplinary creativity, exposing our young people to the many possibilities within the arts. Whether capturing emotions through a song, crafting visual narratives, or blending different mediums, our young creatives are developing skills that will shape their future projects and artistic identities.

Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming projects and events at the Salmon Youth Centre.
