Basketball Team Wins Again

On the 11th April 2024, The Salmon Youth Club Boys Basketball Team U15’s & U19’s had the great opportunity to participate in a basketball tournament hosted by London Basketball Association at New City College.

The London Basketball Association see sport as an integral part of society, a practice that brings communities together, creates employment and growth opportunities within them, and helps maintain a healthy lifestyle. They have recognised the potential for basketball to become a gateway to solving key social issues such as obesity, physical and mental health issues, substance misuse, unemployment, crime and postcode wars. LBA brings positive social change to the most disadvantaged communities in London through basketball.

At the tournament many young people from various youth centre’s and local basketball teams attended to be a part of this event. The Salmon Team’s played so well against great competition and every team that attended played to the very best of their abilities.

The U15’s went all the way to the finals and won the cup unbeaten! Back-to-back 2 years in a row. And our U19’s also went to the finals but unfortunately lost by 1 point but played outstanding and was undefeated until the finals. They came away with silver medals.

Our sports coach Nhyira Asihene (Ish) & Maxim our Sports Trainee are very proud of the Salmon boys for all their hard work, strong efforts & high spirits.
