Salmon Staff, Young People and Supporters Complete the London Big Half Marathon.

The London Big Half Marathon took place on Sunday 3rd September 2023 and staff, young people and supporters took to the streets of London to run.

Organised by London Marathon Events, this unique event brought together 20,000 people in celebration of the cultural diversity of London. The half marathon (13.1miles) starts at Tower Bridge and finishes in Greenwich, passing through closed roads in the boroughs of Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Lewisham & Greenwich. The Big Half Festival takes place throughout the day in Greenwich Park.

Alex is a young person at Salmon, and this is his story….

I was honoured to be called up by the team to run for the Salmon Youth Centre (SYC). SYC has transformed thousands of young people’s lives and has been monumental in mine. The London Big Half Marathon was interesting because at times it felt challenging however knowing what I was running for gave me motivation to finish the race. At different points of the run I saw friends family and loved ones there to support me which kept me going. Salmon are the embodiment of family and they believe in the development of young people and giving them new experiences, hence why I was given the amazing opportunity to run for them. I was extremely pleased to be apart of such of an event and really pleased to have completed it.

Many thanks for those who have sponsored the team. We were running for the Salmon Youth Centre raising money for those young people to have a summer holiday residential activity week where they may never have had a summer holiday.
