Salmon Three Peaks Challenge – 2019 edition!

21/06/2019

On the 12th and 13th of July 2019, a determined team of staff, patrons and volunteers at The Salmon Youth Centre in Bermondsey are partnering with a number of London businesses to raise money by courageously taking on The Three Peaks Challenge.

Considered one of Britain’s toughest outdoor challenges, the National Three Peaks Challenge is a physically and mentally demanding course, with participants taking on the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales, Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085m) – all within 24 hours.

Over that time, the group will trek around 26 miles and ascend to a total height of almost 3,000m. Each mountain is, depending on weather conditions, expected to take up to five hours to climb and descend for a “strong walker”, with a total driving time of 10 hours in between each stop.

The team are hoping to raise £20,000 to help fund Salmon’s work with disadvantaged young people in South London, which includes tackling the well-reported and deeply unsettling increase in knife crime affecting young people across London.

What’s really exciting is that a supporter of the club has generously offered to match every donation (however big!) with an equivalent amount, up to a maximum of £10,000.

Please help us to continue to transform the lives of young people by donating to our Three Peaks Challenge fundraiser here – https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/TeamNuveenChallenge1.

Thank you!
