Salmon Spotlight: Alexandra Gheorghe

My name is Alexandra and I am 17 years old. I heard about Salmon through a friend of mine and I was interested in doing a placement there.  When I first came to the centre, I was excited and nervous, and I was amazed at the facilities that were available. My favourite area was the chapel because I haven’t seen anything like it before. It really impressed me that Salmon had a place for people to pray in.

Once I was accepted to do my placement here, I spent four weeks working in reception, and I enjoyed meeting new people, helping with queries and taking part in all the club sessions. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to become a Young Leader so I could learn more about working with young people.

Once I became a Young Leader, I was more involved with all the activities at Salmon and what made me happy was that I was accepted as a full time staff member. I was so happy I almost cried.

So far, it has been incredible; I have really enjoyed my time here and I am looking forward to building my career, new life experiences and gaining skills to help me in life.

I just want to thank Salmon for taking me on as both a staff member and a Young Leader and making me feel comfortable every time I am here.
